Day 46 – Carter Lake, Iowa
Dollar General! We are finding them in every town now, generally at the edge of town. They have Powerade, snacks and basic items we need like laundry soap and sunscreen. We walk to one we can see from our window. It feels good to get out and stretch our legs. For those other items, like chamois butter and a kickstand, we decided to try delivery to an ‘Amazon Locker’. The email shows the item is delivered so we also head into town to the Imaginarium Super Store. How fun!! The store has lots of vintage collectibles. We even found ice trays from the 60’s- remember those that are aluminum with a lever you pull to release the ice?! And…wait for it…a 2004 Amtrak Century Bicycle jersey in mint condition for $8. We were so jazzed. I also saw a tech tee from the 2011 Disney Half marathon-the same one I have from running the event with my sister!
It was our first experience with an Amazon locker. The store clerk had our package there for us. That was easy! And we’re quite likely to order more if there’s something unique we need.
Next was a little more discovery downtown and dinner. We decided to try the Spaghetti Works. Fresh salad bar and gluten free pasta available. And the cheesecake! Drew could only eat half so we got a to-go box.
On the way home, we saw a billboard saying Chris Stapleton was playing tomorrow night. On a whim, we checked to see if any tickets were available at a reasonable price. The last concert we looked into was at the Acrisure Event center in Palm Desert. The tickets were really expensive. And to our surprise, we were able to get two seats. So excited. We love his voice and down to earth demeanor. Now that’s living life unScripted.
What another amazing day!!
