Day 84
Bangor to South Carolina to Ontario
The nights sky is beginning to fade into dawn as we rise to prepare for the day. Raindrops skitter across the window and the cars below are dotted with drops. As expected, the storm has arrived. A first cup of coffee and discussion of the day’s plans ensues.
Sorting and packing, everything is now neatly placed for its return home.
Breakfast, emails, news…. We drive by Stephen King’s house not far from the airport. The car is returned and we check the luggage. We are already missing the bikes and chat about riding on the trainer when we get home. What will our heart rates be like? Will we be riding faster and with more watts?? Our bodies have certainly changed over the past 3 months.
Checking the weather, we’ll be returning to 100+ temperatures.
Our flight departs on time out of Bangor but there’s a delay in Charlotte.
Wow!! The language and behavior of some of the passengers is outrageous. I understand it’s inconvenient to have delays and no one likes them. But the crew on the plane didn’t cause this nor did the other passengers on the plane. We let them deplane first, waiting patiently in our seats. Yes. Let the toxicity leave!
Once in the terminal, we find a long lost friend we haven’t seen in 3 months-Chik fil a!
Love their salads and who can pass up waffle fries and nuggets?!
Back on the plane for the final leg of the trip.
Landing in Ontario, our dear friend Gary Dittmar picks us up. It’s so good to see him and lots of chatter fly’s during our trip home.
It’s nearly 1:30 am before we’re able to settle for the night.
What just happened? Did we really just cross the US on bikes? It all seems so surreal.
Certainly there is more to this adventure, we still have tons of video footage to go through, and as time allows that will get posted on the YouTube channel. Till then, keep the rubber side down and enjoy the ride.
