Totals:. Miles- 4,088.03 – Accent- 121,995
343 hrs 35 minutes in the saddle
The route out of town took us down Pine Street which was lined with beautiful old homes. Back at Lock 35, we began traveling along the Erie Canal. The path was exceptional! As the morning progressed, more and more people were out. The temps were in the high 60’s and the skies were clear. Along the way, a Kestrel was flying over. Their ability to hover is fascinating.
By mid morning, it was time for ‘Second Coffee’ so we stopped at Country Club Family Restaurant in Medina. The service was perfect!!
The Empire State Trail along the Erie Canal is very well maintained and winds through some really cool towns…old towns!! It is a trail I would truly recommend. Just after 2, we rode past a bridge and caught the smell of some amazing food. That was cause for a quick U turn taking us to the Clutch on the Canal. WOW! Lunch was amazingly and yes, we ate it all!!
Back on the road, we passed an apple tree loaded with little green apples. It was so whimsical and fun to look at. We got to Rochester in a few more hours. While we logged over 60 miles, we climbed less than 400 feet. A really chilled day!! The skies remained clear throughout the day making it an absolutely perfect day on the bike!
Once settled, we checked emails and messages. A heartfelt thanks to all of you back home who sent information about tropical storm Hilary. We turned on the TV to see broadcasting from Yucaipa!!
Things are changing quickly so we must adapt as well. After all, life is UnScripted!
