The morning is cool…around 65 degrees. We think of our friends in other areas and how they are battling the heat. We are grateful for our riding conditions. Rain is expected today. We’ll see how bad it gets and adjust accordingly. We haven’t melted yet!!
Throughout the day, we see horse drawn carriages. In one field, a man was plowing. The plow was drawn by four horses. It was wonderful to see. Further down the road, a mill was producing pallets. The smell of sawdust was wonderful and took me back to my childhood when Dad and I would go to Ole’s lumberyard on Saturday mornings to get wood. Such good memories.
Just beyond, an area in a yard was set up for cyclists to take a break. What a kind thing to do!
Next, a man with a horse drawn buckboard headed down the street. He clearly knew the best roads to take. We followed a bit until he turned off. We soon learned he took a short cut. Ahead of us, he turned once again to the corner vegetable stand. He was delivering fresh produce to the stand.
Across the street was a gas station so we stopped for second coffee. I had to laugh when I saw a bottle of FlipFlop wine. FlipFlop is my trail name. lol!
At noon, a light rain began. The canopy on the trail helped to shield us making it possible to continue. The trail was incredibly beautiful.
Once in Twinsburg, we got settled and found a restaurant for our lunch/dinner option. Our server recognized us saying she had passed us twice!!
By evening, it begins to rain. Once again, we’ve escaped the worst.
